Special Event! Join us for the Turkey Tri in San Dimas on November 28.
Want to try your hand at a triathlon? Participating as part of a relay team is a terrific way to see what triathlon is all about and this is a perfect opportunity. The Turkey Tri is a fun, low-key triathlon at Bonelli Lake in San Dimas on November 28. It is only about a 35 minute drive from Irvine. How many chances will you have to participate in a race that serves pumpkin pie at the finish?
The race distances are 1/2 mi swim (36 lengths of a standard pool), 14 mile bike, 4.5 mile run. This race is a perfect one for the first time triathlete, especially if you want to be part of a relay and only do one event (either swim, bike or run). Let me know which part you want to do and I will find others to complete your team. It couldn't be easier!
You are probably thinking you don't have time to get yourself in shape and organized. I have the answer. If you need help, am happy to help you get ready for the event with a special Turkey Tri offer in conjunction with the premier trainers at Sport Conditioning and Rehabilitation (SCAR) in Orange:
* 6 week custom training plan which I will create for you based upon your current level of fitness so that you will be ready for the race. You fill out a questionnaire and I will create a training plan that fits into your schedule. It will be emailed to you on an Excel spreadsheet. It will have specific workouts to do each week and you can mix the days around as you wish. You can choose from a 5 -day or a 6 day a week plan.
* Folks that want to use this as motivation to shed a few pounds will be given an optional 6 week weight loss plan to go with the training. Eat normal food and lose up to 7 pounds before race day.
* A personal coaching session in the discipline of your choice swim, bike, or run (coaching and training $200 value). Need help with swimming? I can help. Afraid of open water? I can help (My book, "Fearless Swimming" comes out in Spring 2011).
* Group presentation about how to survive your first triathlon. Don't worry if you have no clue what you are doing. I will get you going in the right direction.
* Weekly group training opportunities. If you want to swim, bike or run with others, let me know. Some of us will be in the gym at SCAR on Saturday mornings so we can run on the treadmill, spin on the bikes and get strong together.
* A personal functional strength screening and a customized triathlon strength training plan to address them at SCAR which includes full use of their gym facility and access to the terrific staff off athletic trainers and physical therapists ($140 value). This is much more than a typical gym membership. The trainers have bachelor's degrees in fitness related fields and they will give you a program that will get you strong in the ways that matter for your event. You probably won't use standard weight machines much but boy will you work hard! SCAR is a conditioning center for grown-ups, not like so many gyms that feel like a singles bar with flashy lights and loud music.
If you have injuries from the past, the physical therapists at SCAR will get you moving again in a jiffy. No one is better at keeping you strong and injury free.
* Race Entry in the relay ($48 value).Note: If you want to do the whole race the entry fee is higher.
You can see this is a tremendous deal for $250.If you want to do the whole race the fee is $300. Pay securely through paypal or make other arrangements with me.
Don't wait around...Decide now and get moving! The race is only 7 weeks away. Let me know if you are interested in participating in the race (with or without the Turkey Tri Offer) and I will figure out the logistics of the teams, optional group training sessions and entry.
Hope you can join us!

Testimonials:
"Ingid provided me great swim instruction and ultimately helped me develop the confidence that I needed to have fun competing in triathlon. Ingrid's latest personalized training plan has given my training much needed focus, direction and variety while remaining flexible enough for my busy lifestyle." -Mike
Ingrid, Thank you so much for all your help in training me for my first 1/2 ironman. In the past I had run 1/2 marathons, 10k's and sprint triathlons. I stayed away from the longer tri races because the swim was something that I just endured, struggled through and survived. I would get out of the water with arms like noodles totally worn out from muscling my way through. Your help with swim technique has completely changed the way I swim. I was totally comfortable and had a great river swim at Barb's race. Not only did I have a good swim time, 4 minutes faster then the goal time I had set for myself, but also came out feeling strong and ready to bike. I could not have done this without your coaching. The videos you took of me underwater and the videos you sent of others with proper swim form were a great tool for really understanding what I needed to correct.
The training plan you provided for me to train all three aspects running, biking and swimming got me right where I needed to be on race day. It was a great tool, I knew exactly what I would be doing each week and could move workouts around within the week to fit my time constraints. I can't thank you enough, not only for your coaching but also your encouragement and the way you took such a personal interest in making sure I was prepared to be successful on race day.
Thanks again, Shawna
"I am very glad I hired Ingrid as my triathlon coach. I only had 8 weeks before my first half ironman so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was an intense program of training along with a strong focus on weight loss. I felt more prepared as the final week approached than I expected. She taught me more than just the training, including planning, fueling and preparing mentally. I asked her to prepare a marathon training program for me and next she will prepare my ironman training program.
A key part of my training focused on weight loss. Ingrid asked that I get a baseline and follow-up body composition (7 site skinfold) to measure the results over a 3 month period. I was shocked at the success over such a short time frame: 18 lb overall weight loss, 2% reduction of body fat, 8 lb fat weight loss, 4.5 inch loss around waist and 3 point drop in my BMI.
Thank you Ingrid for all I've learned thus far, Here's to my future success.-Julie
