Swimming Lessons For Adults:

  • Swim to be safe
  • Swim for fun and fitness
  • Swim faster
  • Private or learn with a friend

Swimming lessons are for everyone.  I use the Total
Immersion Principles to teach you how to relax and
move easily through the water instead of fighting it.
Rather than making adjustments to your current stroke,
we will build a new freestyle from the very beginning. I
use video extensively. I use it both to show you what
you look like when you swim and I use it to give you a
visual reference of what you should look like. It is really
exciting to see yourself improve.

Lessons last about 45 minutes. I usually meet with my
swimmers once a week but the schedule is up to you. It
is important to practice what you have learned between
each session.

I typically get in the water with you so I can position
your body as it should be. My lessons are intensive and
you can expect to make progress quickly. Most students
make dramatic improvements in a few lessons.

Equipment: Comfortable swim goggles and a swim cap
(if you have long hair).

Swimming Lessons & Workshops
Fearless Swimming Open Water Package:

This series of one-on-one lessons is for triathletes and swimmers that want to improve their open water swimming skills and confidence.
It combines the best of the Total Immersion swimming techniques with the tools and skills that will help you swim more happily in open
water. You will swim in the pool, open flat water and in the ocean with surf.

Part 1: Dry Land and Pool Work
You will start with dry land work, learning about posture,  breathing, hand position and ways to keep yourself calm. Once in the pool
Ingrid will take you through the best of the Total Immersion drills to improve your efficiency in the water. You will work with some
navigation tools and begin the process of getting used to swimming with impaired vision (like you will do in open water which is usually
murky).

Part 2: Flat Open Water
You will learn to apply the skills you learned in the pool to the open water environment. Ingrid will teach you about habituation, cold water
shock and other physiological reactions you can expect and of course, how to manage those reactions effectively. You will get extensive
practice with navigation and calming strategies. When you are comfortable in flat open water, you will be ready to tackle the ocean.

Part 3: Ocean Swim in the Surf
The ocean is the most fun and challenging environment to race in. Ingrid will teach you how to judge the surf conditions so you can enter
and exit the water safely and quickly. You will also learn about riptides, currents, various beach hazards and how to handle them. You will
learn to the rudiments of wave handling including bodysurfing if you wish. Ingrid will swim with you out to the buoy offshore to give you
a taste of the open water swim experience.

Equipment:
Wetsuit, goggles and cap if your hair is long.
